As part of swachatha hi seva from September 15 to October 2 many cleanliness activities are being carried out in schools, colleges, public places and orphanages .ONGC, a public sector conducted a handwash awareness program in Chennai Corporation Middle School, Balaji nagar, Royapettah. 150 students, Volunteers and Parents were participated in this event and was demonstrated by microbiology students of KRM college under the supervision of Prof. Leena and G.Thangaraj (Dist coordinator, NGC). Hand wash procedures were followed by students and parents. All participants were provided with Health kits and Dust bins by Gopinath (General Manager, ongc). Earlier a stainless steel hand wash unit was sponsored by Rotary club of Madras Bay City and was handed over to Thenmozhi (Head Mistress) by Arulmalar (Senior Executive, Rotary club). Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai and Vivekananda Janoththana Trust organized a national workshop for the empowerment of Youth at Madras Management Association, Chennai on September 15 for the commemoration of the 125th Anniversary of the Chicago Addresses of Swami Vivekananda. This workshop brought experts in Vedanta and Yoga along with experts in Neuroscience together and engaged them in dialogs whose insights will empower the Indian youth and help in their holistic development. The workshop’s goal was to provide solutions to the problems faced by youth. It was attended by 250 people. Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, (Vice President of Ramakrishna Mission) inaugurated with his benedictory address. Professor BN. Nandini Voice for the deprived, a Chennai based non governmental organization is organizing an essay competition for senior citizens to describe their thoughts and share their perspectives on the life that they have led and how to make up for the lost opportunities in the rest of their life. The objective of the competition is to provide an opportunity to the senior citizens above 60 years of age to express themselves . Their views would help in providing the guidelines for shaping the future plans for youngsters , when they have the time and opportunity to do so. Highlights of the thoughts of the senior citizens would be published for the benefit of all concerned. Essay can be written in English or Tamil. Essay should have maximum of 1500 words.
