Bhagavan Ganesha, the 'Bhagavan of Achievement and Enlightenment,' is revered as the destroyer of obstacles and negativities, and the bestower of bliss and prosperity. 
The festival is marked by the installation of Ganesha idols in homes and public pandals, accompanied by chanting of vedic hymns and bhajans, pooja and aarti ceremonies, offerings of modak (kozhukattai) as prasadam.
The celebrations culminate on the tenth day, Visarjana Day, with a public procession and immersion of the idols in a nearby water body. Vinayaka Chaturthi is a vibrant festival that promotes unity and community bonding among people. This year, it is celebrated on August 27(Wednesday).
